We have a holistic and integrated approach to patient health.
Chris Gauntlett Myotherapy had its genesis in 2009, when principal therapist Chris Gauntlett began working independently and treating patients out of rooms at the Caulfield Business Centre.
As effective as these treatment protocols were, Chris was always interested in exploring new ways to provide his patients with longer-lasting muscular pain relief and a more comprehensive approach to injury rehabilitation.
Chris completed further studies in exercise training and became certified as a strength and conditioning coach with ASCA. Chris developed a partnership with Reg Jeka of Round One Boxing and began training clients out of Reg’s gym on City Road, South Melbourne. Chris took over the premises, rebranded the business and began trading as ‘Resilience Massage and Training’.
Today, Chris Gauntlett Myotherapy is a Barral specialist clinic. The goal of the Barral System is to create a lasting improvement in pain resolution, movement performance, and injury rehabilitation. The future vision for the clinic is to establish Chris Gauntlett Myotherapy as the premier Barral Clinic in Melbourne.

And complete history.
Chris Gauntlett Myotherapy had its genesis in 2009, when principal therapist Chris Gauntlett first began working independently and treating patients out of rooms at the Caulfield Business Centre. At this stage of his career, Chris had recently completed a diploma in remedial massage and was providing manual musculoskeletal therapy to the public. Treatments consisted primarily of muscular trigger point therapy and myofascial tension techniques.
As effective as these treatment protocols were, Chris was interested in exploring new ways to provide his patients with longer-lasting muscular pain relief and a more comprehensive approach to injury rehabilitation. Soon after establishing the business in Caulfield, Chris completed further studies in exercise training and became certified as a strength and conditioning coach with ASCA (The Australian Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association).
Working as a strength and conditioning coach required more equipment and space. To accommodate this, Chris moved the clinic into rooms at Chapel Fitness Gymnasium, allowing for greater integration of manual soft tissue therapy and exercise-based treatment for clients.
Chris has always treated a broad range of individuals and body types however, much of his early work specialised in working with athletes competing in boxing and Muay Thai, sports that Chris had trained for extensively and competed in. This early work saw Chris develop a partnership with Reg Jeka of Round One Boxing and began training clients out of Reg’s gym on City Road, South Melbourne. In 2017, the upstairs floor became available at the City Road gym and Chris renovated the premises and moved his clinic there. During this time, the business rebranded and began trading as ‘Resilience Massage and Training’.
Just before the COVID-19 outbreak in 2019, Reg relocated his business and Chris took over the entire premises. The Covid lockdowns provided an invaluable opportunity to further renovate the ground and first floors, transforming the City Road premises into its current form. In 2025, another branding change occurred with the business becoming known as ‘Chris Gauntlett Myotherapy’ and trading under the name ‘Gauntlett Health’.
